After earning a degree in apparel and textile design from Michigan State University, Kaylei moved to New York City to assist renowned fashion stylist Lori Goldstein. Kaylei went on to an apprenticeship at the tailoring studio of Christy Rilling, assisting with haute couture fittings for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual costume gala. Here, her passion and appreciation for hand-sewn embellishments and custom surface treatments grew from a hobby to an obsession. Eager to explore other areas of lifestyle design, Kaylei transitioned to the interiors world. As an editor at Lonny magazine, Kaylei produced and prop styled home tours and directed instructional interior-decorating videos. In 2015, she released a small collection of printed fabrics featuring patterns inspired by geometry found in nature. In 2016 Kaylei spent 7 months in Melbourne, Australia creating a prop styling studio course for the interior design school of Republica Education. When Kaylei returned to the U.S. she relocated to Wayland, Massachusetts and continues to serve clients in New England, New York, and worldwide. She loves prepping jobs from her sunny studio in the renovated Saxonville Mills, and is endlessly inspired by the artists and innovators of the greater Boston area.
